[Marin Scotten] – So this year we’re going to two
preseason tournaments. We’re going to one in
Montreal and we’re hosting our Darcel Wright tournament. Both of those we’re going to play
three games in three days. [Katherine Follis] – We had a lot of new players this
year so I think trips like these are really
good. So everyone can kind of talk to each other one on one two on two moments just so we get to know them on a
personal level outside of the basketball court. [♪ MUSIC ♪] [Jessica Roque] -Also fun fact. In Montreal. Starbucks is called Cafe Starbucks. [Jama Bin-Edward] Our teams always a good laugh. We went to this Spanish restaurant. Three Amigos. Anyways the music in there was like
so good. And so like me and like couple of girls at our
table were just like dancing. Just having a good time. [Sofia Paska] – Bonding off the court is just like
super important because you know you get to know
people outside of their basketball
character. [Stefanija Mrvaljevic] – It’s fun we get to really bond. That’s another bonding opportunity
that we have. So, I think thats always fun. [Cara Tiemens] – Having the friendships and being as close as I am with the team is definitely
something special. [Leyki Sorrra] – There’s always just fun that happens
on the bus. There’s a lot of sleeping that
happens but mainly some fun lots of music,
singing there’s even dancing somehow but definitely singing is sure there’s some behind the scenes
clips of that. [Jama Bin-Edward] – We are official vloggers now we
should have a youtube page what is this called? Spikeball girls of Ryerson. ♪ Then he said ♪ ♪ Our song is a slamming screen

done a really good job setting us up for success down the road. There’s definitely an opportunity to
see all of our competition early in the season it just kind of seeing
how we match up. [♪ Music ♪] [Stefanija Mrvaljevic] – The coaches are really putting an
emphasis on us enjoying the journey as well and not just not just looking too
far ahead but being present in what
we’re doing and enjoying every step of the way. I think the little activities that
we do here and there really help. [Carly Clarke] – Lets get up and form the best circle that you can with the group that you have. [Rachel Farwell] – But I remember I was walking to one of our meetings one time with Jama and I was like, oh I wonder
what the energizer today is going to be. And she was
like, oh yeah I can’t wait for that. Like we were excited to go to a team meeting. [Carly Clarke] – I need your attention to explain energizer for today. This is called fizz buzz. So if it’s a multiple of 4 and 5 it’s fizz buzz. So you say both okay. If you mess up you’re out of your team’s circle. But when you get to twenty one whoever says twenty one brings us back down to one but adds a new rule. [Haley Robertson] – To me it reminds me that we are playing a game of basketball. This isn’t life or death. So like having fun with people around you and just enjoying moments. [Leyki Sorra] – We’re all goofy and silly. So I think starting with those really gets us in the
mood to want to be there and listen to what the coachs have
to say. [Carly Clarke] – For us like I talked about a
defensive transition on the perimeter. We want to get some ball pressure to
disrupt their movement. We’re not gambling on every play but we’re to take some calculated
risks. [Sofia Paska] – I think we were like quite nervous
just because like McGill was at Nationals just this previous season as well. [Cara Tiemens] – So we knew McGill was a good team like you said
they’ve won nationals two years ago and they’ve
been to Nationals consistently. Very well coached, very talented. So going into it we definitely knew
that that was probably going to be our one of
our hardest games of the weekend. [Carly Clarke] – Transition first. So We want to give
up nothing easy today making sure that we find the ball contain the ball keep them in front of us find shooters in
transition. We’ve talked in our film about on and off ball positioning. So we want to be active on the ball ball screen defense let’s make sure
we get some pressure and worry about getting into the
ball handler as opposed to worrying about the
screen. Today is going to be a tough battle and 40 minutes this is a great
opportunity for us to see where we’re at and see what we need to get better
at. But we can only do that if we show up ready to compete at a high level from the start. We don’t want to have a start like
we did yesterday. So let’s make sure our energy,
communication, intensity is all high in warm up so we’re ready to go at the tip. All right let’s have a great one. [♪ MUSIC ♪] [Carly Clarke] – Great start. Defensively I love our
energy. And I love how its turning tempo on
offense ok. Let’s keep moving the ball. [♪ MUSIC ♪] [Carly Clarke] – Marin back for Rach. [♪ MUSIC ♪] [Cara Tiemens] – To actually be up near the end was a little bit of a weight off our shoulders. When the time came to it. We did it we had to do and ended up pulling out the win. [♪ MUSIC ♪] [Carly Clarke] – Pretty happy with how he came out
today. I think McGill’s been a top team in the country the past number of
years and we’ve managed to get through
their pressure and to hold on at the end so that
was pretty exciting. [Katherine Follis] – So the bus ride home obviously going 3-0 on a weekend is ideal. We want to win. We won three games. That’s super cool. We’re there to play basketball and to win and to get better. [Cara Tiemens] – Overall is a great trip. Everyone got along. Everyone had fun and basketball was just a bonus to go 3-0. [Jama Bin-Edward] – Our Darcel Wright tournament coming up we’re gonna be playing three games in
three days which is only preparing us for nationals in March. [Carly Clarke] – So playing Regina in the first game of our tournament was a big part of that. [Haley Robertson] – I think we’ve been hosting the
tournament for 31 years and we’ve never won it. [Carly Clarke] – I think they truly and genuinely celebrate each other’s success and are just like enjoying the journey of this special season together.
