My name is Melissa and I’m from Rhode
Island and I go to school at International Yacht Restoration School in Newport, Rhode Island. I’m studying in the Wooden Boatbuilding and Restoration Program. It”s a two-year program and this is my internship. They had mention a boat happening in Costa Rica and said you know this might be right up your alley
and you know indeed it was. Sustainability and wooden boats – like
okay, decision made easy! I’ve been working on tunnels, the tree nails for the frames, that I think are behind me. And I’ve been working on the dagger
board for the small boat. There are several things I like, but I guess the most is just the environmental consciousness. I think that it’s time to
think about those things. And I like that SAILCARGO is heading in that direction.
