How-to Install LED Puck Lights

Hi I’m Scott, a Product Engineer Here at
Environmental Lights. In this video we will cover the installation process for EnvironmentalLights
Plug-and-Play LED Puck Light Kits. Prepare the necessary items to install your
lights. Each Plug-and-Play LED Puck Light Kit includes: three puck lights with mounting
rings attached, ten screws, four wire clips, one splitter and one 12-volt DC power supply.
You will need a Phillips screw driver or drill, pencil and tape measure for surface mount
applications. You will need those same tools plus a drill with a 2.5-inch hole saw if you
plan to flush mount the lights. Stage your intended installation before mounting
the lights to verify that you have the correct components to complete your project as desired.
Disconnect power before you add or remove anything to ensure your safety.
Connect each LED puck light to an output of the splitter and connect the input to the
power supply. Plug the power supply into an outlet and the system will power on. You can
control the LED puck lights by installing the In-Line Dimmer with RF Remote for Plug-and-Play
LED Puck Light Kits between the splitter and the power supply. The remote can control the
lights as soon as the power supply is plugged in. Other dimmers should not be used with
Plug-and-Play LED Puck Light Kits. Before you go any further, make sure that
the cabinet wood is thick enough for the mounting screws or clips.
For surface mount applications, hold the light in its intended position with the mounting
ring installed and mark the location. Use the tape measure place the light, if desired.
Pull the mounting ring off of the light. This may take some effort. With the wire running
through the slot in the ring, hold it up to the markings you made earlier. Rotate the
ring so that the wire points towards the planned splitter location. Drive two of the flathead
screws through the holes in the mounting ring to secure it to the surface. Push the light
back into the ring. Repeat these steps for the other lights.
For flush mount applications, completely remove the mounting ring. Use a tape measure to mark
the center of the mounting location. Make sure that there is adequate distance from
the cabinet edge and other lights. Line up the 2.5-inch hole saw with the marking and
cut a hole. Feed the wire into the cabinet and press the light into the hole. Repeat
these steps for the other lights. Once your lights are installed, use the wire
clips to secure any loose or dangling wires. Place the wire into the loop of the clip and
hold it against the mounting surface. Drive a screw through the holes in the clip until
it and the wire are secure. Repeat as necessary with additional wire clips. Keep in Mind
• Only the recommended in-line dimmer should be used with LED Puck Light Kits.
• Only three or fewer individual pucks should be used with each power supply.
• For larger installations of puck lights, see our Modular Under-Cabinet Light series. There you have it. Just follow the steps outlined
here and your Plug-and-Play LED Puck Light Kit will be up and running in no time. We
highly recommend investing a few minutes to watch our “Debugging Your LED Lighting System”
video before starting your installation. It could save you a lot of time and frustration.
