How The 3 D’s of Drift Affect Your Life ⬆️⬇️

Hi, I’m Jeannie Schmidt and I am glad to
be with you today. And today I just want to talk about “soul searching”. I’ve been
doing a lot of soul searching on my own the past couple of days just
contemplating some of the things that have happened in my life and some of the
challenges that have happened in my life. And just wanted to talk with you a
little bit about that and how do you address that when you’re starting to dig
into maybe looking into who you are and what you’ve done and maybe are there
some challenges that you’ve not handled the right way with some people that you
might care about or love. And I just want to tell you that God loves you and he
cares about you and he wants to walk through these things with you. So over
the past couple of days I’ve had time to reflect about some of the issues that
have been going on in my life and how I’ve been handling them. And in my new
book that’s going to be coming out later this year, Divine Drift, I talk about
three kinds of drift. There’s Disengaged Drift. There’s Determined Drift and then there’s Divine Drift. And Divine Drift, of
course, is the best kind because it’s when we walk out our lives living the
way that God would have us to with him at the helm and just following his lead
and his direction. And you know what? To be honest I think that over the past year,
two years I haven’t always been doing that. And that’s kind of funny because my
whole book is about that thing. Are you going to live disengaged … completely
disengaged from God and not really in a relationship with Him. Are you going to
do it in a determined way so that you are the one or I am the one who is
shaping it, setting the path, setting the direction, and maybe not making the best
decisions. Well, I want to tell you that if you’ve been in that place and maybe
you’re in Disengaged Drift and you’ve disconnected with God and I just want to
tell you that there’s nothing you can do that can keep you from him or has his
love for you. And so if you’ve been disengaged and maybe separated from him
I want to encourage you just to reconnect with him. He is kind. He is
loving. He is gentle. He cares about you and he wants to be in relationship with
you. And for those of you who may be like me and in Determined Drift where I am
mixing up what God might have for me and what I think is best for me.
I think this morning … well what I did was i sat down during my journal time and I
just journaled a whole lot of things … the questions that I had about … was I really
the one that was taking care of the the needs, setting the direction, and maybe
not always making the best choices. Or was I really working towards Divine
Drift? And to be honest there are several things where I came to a truth that said
that I wasn’t operating the way that I — my book — talks about. And God is
gracious in that situation too. He knows that were human. He knows that we fail
sometimes. He knows that we don’t always make the best decisions for our lives.
But just like the Israelites where God continued to lead them in spite of their
challenges, in spite of the things that they didn’t do the way that he wanted
him to do … He was always there. God will always love you. He will always care for
you. And don’t beat yourself up. I want you to go find your friend the one that
you know that you can trust that’s gonna speak truth to you but they’re gonna
speak truth to you in love. And talk to them. And be open and honest with them
and let them know that you need to hear truth about where you’re at and the
things that you’ve been doing and the decisions you’ve been making. And I
promise you that if they’re true friends it’s gonna help you. And you’re gonna be
a better person for it. The other thing that I want to encourage you to do is
continue to connect. Look at those things where it was Determined Drift where you
did them your way or I did them my way and make new choices.
Actually reflect on them. Go to God sit at his feet. Pray without ceasing. That is one
of the best things you can do is pray in a constant flow to God because He will
give you those answers. I’ve written down two pages worth of things that God has
maybe pointed into my heart and pointed into my spirit. Hey, Donna, it’s great to
see you today glad you’re with us. And where God has
maybe been pointing into things that I allowed or you allowed so that we were
doing things, or I was doing things, that weren’t the way that God wanted to and
to be open and honest to that and to receive His Word in the way that he
responds back. Because I know he’ll do it in a loving and kind way. And again going
back to the Divine Drift which is the best way to live when we live in that
flow when we live with at the helm of our ship of the of the
life’s boat that we’re going to be floating on. He is going to be the best
person to be able to … or the best creation who’s going to be able to help
you and to give you that true guidance. Don’t beat yourself up.
Give yourself grace. Give yourself love. And know that he loves you. He accepts
you and it’s an ongoing process. It’ll be happening for a long time so you may as
well get used to it and just learn to lean into him. Lean into his
love. Have faith and trust him. I thank you for just listening and sharing this
time with me. And I just hope you have a blessed rest of the week. JeannieSchmidt.com
