D.I.Y. Wire Mesh Memo Board – D.I.Y. At Bunnings

Inspiration can come from some interesting
places. I’m going to dress up this empty wall using
a wire mesh memo board, turning the wall from this to this. These are all the tools and equipment I’ll
need to make a wire mesh memo board. The great thing about this is that I’m repurposing
a veggie panel from the garden to create something inspirational for inside my home. To begin, I’m going to clamp the panel down
and then cut off all the extra pieces with bolt cutters. You can leave the cuts as they are, or if
you want a really clean finish, you can tidy up with a good pair of pliers. I’m going to hang my frame with some webbing. Measure and cut two lengths the same size,
and then seal the ends with a heat gun. Clamp down the webbing with a piece of scrap
timber so you don’t get too close to the heat gun. The webbing is made of plastic, so it’s always
a good idea to use a mask. I’m going to pre-drill some holes through
the webbing so that the eyelets sit nice and cleanly. Use some scrap pieces of timber to brace your
webbing down so that it doesn’t get snagged on your drill bit, and also to use as a guide
so you can get the hole through the center. Transfer the center point from your webbing
onto your timber, clamp it down, and pre-drill. Repeat the process for both ends of both pieces
of webbing. Make sure you go nice and slowly so that your
webbing doesn’t snag on your drill bit. I’m going to position some eyelets in the
holes that we’ve made in the webbing so that they keep structural integrity and they look
aesthetically pleasing. Simply use a crimping tool to do this. All that remains is to hang it on the wall. So I’ve decided to spray the ends of my batwing
screws with some black paint so that they blend in with the strapping, but it’s up to
you. I’ll be screwing straight into studs in the
wall, but if you’re going into the plasterboard, remember to use hollow wall anchors. And there it is, a wire mesh memo board, perfect
for all your notes and pieces of inspiration. You’d never know it was made from something
meant for the garden. It’s sleek and stylish, very simple, and you
can use it in any room in the house. A simple idea that’s turned my office space
from this, to a wall of inspiration.
